Saint Lucian footballers are getting set for a rigorous schedule as they prepare to compete in upcoming regional tournaments.

The Saint Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. released the squad of the National Men’s Senior team  players that travelled to Anguilla Thursday for the Return Leg away- match in the CONCACAF Nations League. The match was scheduled to be played yesterday (Friday, March 24) but upwards to press time scores were not forthcoming.

The full squad consisting of Lucian professionals and locally based players is as follows: Vino Barclett Goal Keeper Cavalier (Jamaica), Anton Richard Goal Keeper Uptown Rebels, Devone St. Prix Goal Keeper Northern United, Captain Kurt Frederick Defender ( Grenades FC, Antigua), Terell Thomas Defender ( Charlton Athletic, England), Melvin Doxilly Defender (Mount Pleasant, Jamaica), Alvinus Myers Defender ( Portmore, Jamaica), Shanoi Evans Defender ( Arnett Gardens,Jamaica), Sebastien Ribot Defender Monchy, Canius Sandiford Defender GMC, Gregson President Midfielder ( Grenades FC,   Antigua), Lester Joseph Midfielder( Portmore,Jamaica), Leaus Henville Midfielder Platinum FC, Elijah Joseph Midfielder DCYO, Jason Similien Midfielder, Brandon Sandiford Midfielder GMC, Andrus Remy Forward B1FC, Ridel Stanislas Forward ( Grenades FC,Antigua), Jevick MacFarlane Forward Portmore (Jamaica), Aaron Richard Forward Monchy, Malik St. Prix Forward Valley Soccer, Tev Lawrence Forward (Grenades FC, Antigua),and Donavan Jn. Baptiste Forward Grenades FC (Antigua).

Meanwhile, St. Lucia plays Dominica in the return –leg home game on Monday (March 27) at the Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds [DSCG] from 7.00 pm.

The SLFA has since released a schedule of the various regional competitions that respective national teams will participate in for the year.

Team Saint Lucia will next participate in the 2023 – 24 Gold Cup tournament scheduled for 24th June to 16th July at a venue to be decided.

Then in September the team will compete in the 2023 – 24 Concacaf Nations League in Group B.

The National Under-14 Girls are due to commence training today (Saturday March 25) at the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere Dennery, as they prepare to participate in the CFU Under-14 Challenge Series scheduled for the August 18 to 28.

The Girls Under-17 are scheduled to participate in the CONCACAF Qualifiers in August as well.

The Under-20 Girls team continues its training in preparation for the World Cup Qualifiers scheduled for Nicaragua from April 14. Saint Lucia has been placed in Group F with the following teams; Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

As part of its preparation the team will be travelling to Barbados from 31st March – 2nd April where they will be engaged in two Friendlies. The team is under the guidance of Head coach Emmanuel Bellas.

Other national teams due to compete in regional competitions are the Boys Under-13, Boys Under-15 and the Senior Women team.

In other soccer updates; last Saturday (March 18) at the Sab Playing Field, in the semifinals of the CFC / LUCELEC / Bank of St. Lucia U-12 Boys Youth competition – New Generation overcame VSADC via the penalty shootout. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time.

The other semifinal between FC Pioneers and Nyah FC, was also decided through the penalty shootout route after it ended 0-0 after regulation time. Nyah FC emerged triumphant.

Nyah FC and New Generation are schedule for the finals challenge.

In the Under-16 Semi-finals category; Flow Lancers got the better of VSADC with a 1-nil victory to qualify for the finals.
