SLFA U-17 Club Championships Enters Final Stage

The final stage in the Saint Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. Under-17 Club Zonal Championship is on, after an exciting show of talent and skill from many young and aspiring footballers on island.

According to an SLFA spokesperson, the Top Club in each of the four Zones, will play each other in a Single Round Robin Format.

The team amassing the most points will emerge as Champions. The top team from each of the Four Zones are as follows: Northern United – NZ, New Generation – EZ, Black Panthers – SZ, and Valley Soccer – WZ.

Matches are scheduled to be played simultaneously at the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere Dennery.

Sunday (March, 19): Grass Field – Northern United vs. Black Panthers – 1.00p.m.; Astro Turf – New Generation vs. Valley Soccer   – 1.00p.m.

Sunday (March, 26): Grass Field: Black Panthers vs. Valley Soccer – 1.00p.m; Astro Turf – Northern United vs. New Generation – 1.00p.m.

Sunday (April, 2): Grass Turf – Northern United vs. Valley Soccer – 1.00p.m.; Astro Turf – Black Panthers vs. New Generation – 1.00p.m.

The Zonal Winners are as follows:

Northern Zone – Northern United of Gros Islet 12 pts. with GMC also from Gros Islet emerging runners up with 9 pts.

Eastern Zone – New Generation from Babonneau 18 pts. followed by DCYO out of Dennery 15 pts.

Western Zone – Valley Soccer of Castries 15 pts., followed by Pioneers also of Castries with 12 pts.

Southern Zone – Black Panthers of Soufriere – 15 pts. followed by Uptown Rebels of Vieux Fort with 8 pts.

In the meantime, in the SLFA Inc. Senior Women tournament, at the Soufriere Mini Stadium on March 12, Soufriere defeated Desruisseaux 4 – 1.

Goal scorers for Soufriere were; Sasha Nicholas 39th and 79th minutes, Maya Cyril 39th and Chermalyn Albert 86th minutes. Desruisseaux was gifted an own goal by Nicholas in the 45th minute.

Meanwhile, the SLFA Inc. continued its training workshop for coaches enrolled in the Generation Amazing Programme, which is scheduled for later this month.

Programme coordinator John Sealy facilitated the session, which was held at the SLFA’s Inc. base, in La Clery.

According to an SLFA spokesperson, the workshop was “very activity oriented” as the coaches continue to be further empowered with all the necessary skills and mindset to drive this initiative forward.

Meanwhile, in the La Clery Football League/Boys Youth Under-15 Tournament on Tuesday (March, 14), at the La Clery Playing Field; Guest Team Flames FC from Marchand beat LA All Stars 3-2 to continue their winning streak with a hard fought victory.

Goal scorers for Flames FC were Joshua Lionel, Brandon Walter and Shervon King; while Jelan Hippolyte and Dorel Albert scored for LA Stars.

Scores of matches played last Saturday (March, 11) were as follows:

Guest Team Flames FC vs. Agardianz 2 – 1.

The competition continued on Thursday (March, 6) with Agardianz coming up against Radics in their return leg at Agard.

The Points standing to date are as follows:

Flames FC – 6 pts., LA All Stars – 3 pts., Agardianz 3 pts., and Radics – 3 pts.
