SLFA League Competitions in Full Flow

Matches continued in the St Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. competitions at selected venues across the island with keen challenges and enthusiasm among the competing teams.

On Thursday, at the Desruisseaux Playing Field, in a SLFA Inc. Island Cup encounter; Dennery earned a hard-fought victory over Vieux Fort North 1-nil with a goal from Elijah Joseph in the 41st minute.

Desruisseaux defeated Central Castries 3 – 2, in a tight game to give their home fans something to cheer about. Scoring for Desruisseaux were,   Davian Jetram 17th, Joseph Mangal 18th and Stevie Henry 49th minutes of the game, while Central Castries goal scorers were Andres Daniel and Joshua Boland in the 59th and 90th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, the SLFA Inc. 2022/2023 Island Cup District Championship resumed last week, at separate venues.

Results of matches played were as follows:

SLFA Inc. Island Premier Cup at the Desruisseaux Playing Field Wednesday, 11th January:

Dennery vs. Mabouya Valley 3 – 2,

Vieux Fort South vs. Desruisseaux 3 – 0,

On Thursday 12th November; Babonneau vs. Micoud 2-2.

SLFA Inc. Island Cup – Thursday 12th January, at the Gros Islet Playing Field: La Clery vs. Central Castries 5 – 2,

Vieux Fort North vs. Gros Islet 2-1.

Other upcoming re-scheduled matches, to be played at the Gros Islet playing field are as follows: La Clery vs. Mabouya Valley, and Canaries vs. Vieux Fort South.

Two matches were played in the SLFA’s Inc. Women’s Championship at the Soufriere Mini stadium, this week:

In a west-coast derby Canaries defeated Anse la Raye 6 – 0; with victors getting goals from Kylan Solomon with a hat trick in the 24th, 32nd and 76th minutes. Antilia Charles an own goal in the 27th minute while Theona Auguste 36th and Cassandra Shepherd in the 79th minutes.

Soufriere hammered Dennery 8 – 0; with former national player Chermalyn Albert making a return to competitive football. She netted five goals from a 14th minute penalty and from the 30th, 31st, 32nd, and 76th minute of the game. Other goals came from Aaliyah Jn. Baptiste 45th minute, Nicolia Joseph 65th minute and Cynthia Esnard in the 65th minute.

Matches continued in the SLFA Inc. Women Championship, last Monday at the Desruisseaux Playing Field.

The National Under-20 team continues to stamp their authority in the competition, with a 9-nil trashing over Desruisseaux. Under-20 goal scorers were Arnika Louis with conversions in the 13th, 15th, 36th, 55th and 69th minutes, Clorie William 25th and 57th minutes and Freegeane Joseph in the 30th and 79th minutes.

Vieux Fort South enjoyed a comfortable 7 – 1 victory over Central Castries. Jahnya Charlemagne led with a hat trick in the 5th, 77th and 80th minutes. A brace from Sage Joseph 34th and 57th minutes, the latter a penalty and the others from Giana Hilton 47th minute and Elaisa Marquis 66th minute; Onika Joseph pulled one back for Central Castries in the 79th minute.
