Following in the footsteps of his father, Saviola Elva plays a stirring role in the offense and has utilized his agility to get past many defense lines.
And the young Elva has the flair and moves to match his attacking prowess on the ball. Though he was born in Trinidad &Tobago, Saviola is a product of the Vieux Fort community and earnestly wants to do well for Team Saint Lucia in the upcoming engagements and beyond.
The 20-year-old diminutive yet tough striker already aspires to play in the big league.
Due to his father Titus Elva’s professional stint in the T&T football league, Saviola has travelled frequently between the two countries and all the while savouring the experience of the ‘beautiful game’.
“It’s in the blood, and I have to try to live up to the name,” says Saviola, speaking of his zeal to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Saviola admits that his father has been a motivating influence in his life and helping him to harness his skills, while adding: “He has been guiding me”.
The young striker is excited about his debut call up to the senior national team and says , the biggest achievement he has accomplished thus far , is “being called up to the senior team for my first time…and I’m very happy about that.”
In moving up the ranks, Saviola has also represented the National U-15 Football Team.
On his training regime and build- up for play, Saviola declared: “Your work intensity has to be very high; you have to be able to move onto the ball, move off the ball …and you have to be fit because you have to run up and down for basically the whole game.”
His playing career has been spread out and he has represented Vieux Fort South in the Blackheart Knockout Football, and in club soccer competition represents Platinum FC – former national club champions.
Saviola takes on a serious approach to the game, stating that, “I’m taking it very seriously and I’m trying to reach the professional stage.”
Commenting on Team 758 prospects in the upcoming schedules, he declared: “We will give the fans something to talk about.”
