Saint Lucian and West Indies player Johnson Charles was named Man of the Match as he helped guide the Windward Volcanoes to their third win of the ongoing CG Insurance Super 50 Cup by defeating Combined Colleges and Campus ( CCC) in a match played at the Brian Lara Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) , Wednesday.
In a Zone A fixture, Charles hit a belligerent 89 (86) 8×4, 5×6 as the Volcanoes piled up 277 all out (49.4/50 ov); and then limited CCC to 180/9 (50.0/50 ov) for a convincing 97 run victory.
Other good contributors for the Volcanoes were Sunil Ambris 69 (57), Justin Greaves 46 (53), and Kavem Hodge 34 (54).
Matthew Forde was the pick of the bowlers for CCC with figures 3/33 (10), while Navin Bidaisee took 3/40 (10), and Abhijai Mansingh and Amari Goodridge claimed two wickets each.
Denesh Ramdhim’s knock of 82 (107) 5×4, 1×6 stood out for CCC , with support from lower order batters Romario Greaves 32 (63) , and Abhijai Mansingh 21(20) not enough to overhaul the target.
Hodge then went on to claim 4/15 (10.0) to cap off a good all-round performance, while Larry Edward (SLU) got 2 /29 (10.0) and Darel Cyrus 2/25 (10.0) to outplay their opponents.
