Vieux Fort South wins SLFA Senior Women Championships

With a championship title on the line – Vieux Fort South triumphed over the National U-14 Girls 3-1 to secure the St. Lucia Football Association Inc. [SLFA] Senior Women Championship in the final match played at the Dennery Playing Field (DPF), last Saturday.

The southern women’s team played unbeaten in the competition, and by virtue of that final result, Vieux Fort South outscored Canaries to lift the title.

With a hard-fought 3-1 win over a determined national youth team, prolific striker Freegeanne Joseph set the team on course with a goal in the 16th min., while Naisa John scored a brace with goals in the 31st and 44th minutes.

Clowie William pulled one back for the youngsters, converting a gem of a goal in the 42nd min.

At the post-match presentation, trophies and medals were presented, as follows:

National U 14 picking up the Third Place,

Canaries Second Place,

And Vieux Fort South wrestling the Championship.

An SLFA official stated that the top five teams will be presented with a complete football kit at a later date.

The final team placings for teams that participated in the tournament are as follows:

1. Vieux Fort South

2. Canaries

3. National Under 14

4. Dennery

5. Anse La Raye

6. Central Castries and

7. Desruisseaux.
