Untouchables Wins Independence 501 Darts Open, Again

Amazona was no match to the formidable Untouchables Darts team headed by Haig Louis, in the Independence 501 Darts open held at Prio’s  Bar and Grill last weekend.

Under The watchful eyes of Veterans players like calypsonian J.B Gasper, former police inspector Kim Louis, former police inspector Gerald Cyril and Parliamentary Representative for the area Hon. Kenson Casmir, there was no letting up by the Untouchables as they pounded the darts board, crushing the Amazona team from the south.

The tournament was sponsored by the Ministry of Sports and the Saint Lucia National Darts Association. A total of six teams and 35 individuals comprising 27 men and 8 ladies participated in the Tournament.

Newly elected president of the darts association, Dennis ‘Prio’ Louis congratulated the winning team. He expressed his delight at the presence of Sports Minister Casimir.

“I am happy to see the Minister for Sports here today. As parliamentary representative he had to make his presence felt. We are looking for financial support from him and the Government of Saint Lucia,” Louis said.

“We have a mantra, no sport is deliberately left behind, we will provide as much support as we can to any sport that young people are interested in,” Casimir said, adding that although the sport had dwindled over the years he would like to see it develop in schools across the country so bigger and better darts tournaments could be held in the coming years.

The Saint Lucia Darts Association will today launch the iron man/woman darts tournament in memory of four darters: Theodocia Pierre, William Roschild, Jean Mathurin and Anthony Wilkie. Launch time 2pm at Prio’s bar, Corinth.
