As Fond Doux prepares to celebrate its 43rd Independence Anniversary, the locally owned, award winning Eco Resort reveals noteworthy enhancements to its guest experience.
One of the resorts major projects is the Battle of Rabot Tour. This tour takes one back 300 years into an era of slave resistance and rebellion. The historic battle was fought on April 22nd 1795, at Fond Doux, between the British forces and a coalition of free colored people, runaway slaves and French Revolutionaries, during the tempestuous brigand wars of 1791-1796. This interactive and informative tour also features viewing the ruins of fortifications, military buildings, a Neg Maron (Maroon) hide-out used during the ambush of the British forces; as well as a shrine built in memory of the souls lost in the bloody battle.
The Battle of Rabot tour, compliments the eco resort Experiences portfolio which includes a Taste of Fond Doux, the famous Chocolate Heritage Tour and The Lamontagne Trail- Fond Doux’ best kept secret.
“There is something special for everyone at Fond Doux including chocolate lovers, nature lovers, birdwatchers, adventure hikers and the eco conscious traveler”. Fond Doux is a destination within a destination” boasts Lyton Lamontagne, co-owner of the Fond Doux Eco Resort.
The Eco Resort is undergoing a new tour guide training program and the complete repackaging of its tour portfolio to enhance their guest tour experience. The estate guides are scheduled to participate in a professional three-week training to include customer service.
“We are very excited about these improvements and we are especially pleased to be doing so in a manner that preserves our resorts history, extending its legacy for generations of families to come.” said an excited Eroline Lamontagne co-owner of Fond Doux Eco Resort.
Relaxation is key in any holiday experience and as such the resort recently opened its new Mamma La Terre spa. The spa is suspended over a small ravine in the heart of the rainforest, an ideal location to rejuvenate, relax and reset.
The Eco resort remains committed to the continuous development of the resort plant and has introduced a higher standard of luxurious accommodation. Seventy-five percent (75%) of the cottages now feature air conditioning as an option to better suit visitor expectations. All of the resorts cottages and facilities, interior and exterior areas have been renovated following all safety measures and covid protocols.
