Correctional Officer Caught With contraband in Police Custody

A longstanding correctional officer of the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) was on the evening of Thursday, February 17, 2022 intercepted with a number of contraband items in his possession. He was at the time engaged in the routine search of officers ahead of the commencement of duty.

Correctional officers, according to prison regulations, are subject to a search which includes their bags before proceeding to take up their duties.

BCF authorities have confirmed that the individual in question has been detained by police.

The Bordelais Correctional Facility has recently come in for some scathing public criticism on many fronts. However, management of the Bordelais Correctional Facility continues to appeal to the public to appreciate the positive contribution that is being made by the majority of the correctional officers.

One of those positives the BCF is proud of is that the Facility continues to uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards officers who are found to be conducting themselves in a manner that violates prison regulations and betrays the trust of the government and people of Saint Lucia.
