Saint Lucia Records 109 New Cases of COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE — Today Monday August 16, 2021, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirms 109 new cases of COVID-19. These cases are from 271 samples processed at the Ezra Long Laboratory on Sunday August 15, 2021. These cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 6475.

The Ministry also confirms 24 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. This brings the total number of active cases currently on record in country to 809. Four out of these active cases are in critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.

COVID-19 vaccination remains the most effective measure for reducing the impact of the virus on the health and well-being of our citizens. To date 33, 702 individuals have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 26, 330 have received the second dose. Anyone who has not been vaccinated can access this service for free at any of our vaccination sites. Tomorrow Tuesday, August 17, 2021 COVID-19 vaccines will be given at the Beanfield Secondary School and the Gros-Islet Human Resource Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vaccines can also be obtained at all wellness centers island wide by calling or walking in to make an appointment.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness will continue providing daily updates to the public as new information becomes available.
