The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority has been confirmed as a finalist in the Travel Industry Awards by TTG: Tourist Board of the Year. It is the only destination in the Caribbean to have been selected.
The Travel Industry Awards are run by TTG (Travel Trade Gazette), the UK’s leading industry media outlet. The aim is to showcase best practices in travel at the highest level and to recognize the most trusted travel brands for consumers.
Specifically, in 2021, they celebrate the organizations and businesses that have grown stronger through the Covid-19 crisis.
The category of Tourist Board of the Year required entrants to demonstrate how they had remained active and visible in their markets; engaged with key partners and supported staff during this challenging year.
Only eight destinations have been shortlisted.
Tourism Minister Honorable Dominic Fedee said: “In a year of setbacks and challenges, we are so proud of all those who have contributed to keeping Saint Lucia’s tourism alive. To be nominated alongside other much larger destinations such as Australia and Thailand show how an effective strategy, sheer hard work, and tenacity and spirit have meant that we are able to move forward as we co-exist with Covid.”
The final stage of judging is carried out by a panel of independent senior leaders in the sector. The winners will be announced at a ceremony taking place in London on 30 September. The awards – with a new trust mark of excellence – represent the most prestigious accolades in travel.
