Mr. Neil Matty was crowned the new Courts King of the Grill Champion on Saturday, June 19, at the Courts Marisule Complex. Where he dazzled the judges with his grilled chicken recipe; for the grand prize of $1,000 cash plus a Char-Broil charcoal grill and prizes.
Registration for the Courts King of the Grill Competition was open to all males over the age of 18, via Courts social media pages. Participants submitted a unique grilled chicken recipe, which was prepared on the day for a panel of judges. In the end, it was Mr. Neil Matty and Mr. Gerrard Mathurin who went on to participate in the competition to showcase their culinary skills, while utilizing appliances like the Char-Broil charcoal grill now available at Courts.
Courts Brand Manager, Melissa Marius said, “We had to celebrate our fathers in a big way at Courts this Father’s Day. So we reintroduced our King of the Grill competition and received overwhelming response from eager participants. In addition to the level of responses, we were also very impressed with the creativity and uniqueness demonstrated in the recipes submitted.”
Event sponsors, Hylyne CGL and Heineken St. Lucia provided chicken and Heineken 0.0 for use during the competition. Matty’s grilled chicken was served with a wine infused bar-be-que sauce and a side of grilled vegetables and garlic herbs. Alternatively, Mr. Mathurin grilled a spicy chicken breast served with a vegan cucumber, eggplant and bell pepper sandwich. Both meals were served with Heineken 0.0.
The panel of four judges included local chef and Head Judge, Mr. Nicodemus Joseph, Mr. Damian Mc. Gowen, representative from Hylyne CGL, Mr. Keville Wohlstand, representative from Heineken St. Lucia and Ms. Chelsa Jongue, the representative from Courts.
Customers visiting Courts Marisule on the day had an opportunity to sample the dishes made by the competitors and benefited from Courts Pre-Father’s Day offers.
