This past weekend, the Saint Lucia Fire Service Department recorded eighty-eight ambulance responses; five of which were physical assaults, nine motor vehicular accidents, four fire calls and two shootings.
Officers of the Dennery Police Station responded to the distress call on Friday, 9th April, where they found a male in his forties lying face down on the ground. A rapid assessment of the victim revealed that he was void of vital signs and had a penetrating wound, akin to a gunshot about his body.
The second shooting incident occurred in Gros Islet where responding officers found the victim, with several penetrating wounds about his body lying on his back on the ground. The victim was transported to the Gros Islet Polyclinic where he was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
Fire service officers from Babonneau and Gros Islet provided fire suppression support after a fire at Geroge Cooper Road in Castries claimed two vacant structures while the other, which was occupied was badly damaged. No reports of injury or loss of life were made.
