Chauvin found Guilty of Murder and Manslaughter

American Derek Chauvin has been found guilty on all charges for the murder of George Floyd Jr.

Chauvin stood trial for three weeks in the death of Mr. Floyd, which spurred the largest civil rights protests in decades. The jury arrived at a verdict in the trial after deliberating for two days to a total of 10.5 hours – 4 hours on Monday and 6.5 hours on Tuesday.

The jury found the former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree murder in the death of George Floyd. Chauvin was also found guilty of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

George Perry Floyd Jr. was an African-American man who was killed during an arrest after a store clerk alleged, he had passed a counterfeit $20 bill in Minneapolis. Derek Chauvin, one of four police officers who arrived on the scene. He knelt on Floyd’s neck and back for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.
