Castries has for decades been plagued with flooding, an issue many have attributed to the poor disposal of garbage by surrounding residents.
Persistent rain on Monday, April 12 2021, all but halted any vending that would have taken place and forced pedestrians and motorists to find alternative routes out of the city centre as floodwaters on busy streets such as Jeremie Street, Chausee Road and Laborie Street kept rising.
According to the mid-day weather forecast, a low-level shear line will continue to cause some cloudy periods with showers and thunderstorms over the Windward Islands, during the next 24 hours.
Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides were advised to exercise extreme caution during their daily activities.
