Saint Lucian police have recorded major breakthroughs in three of the island’s high profile killings according to Police commissioner, Miton Desir.
One individual is now in custody for the murder of Hermina Lorde, who was gunned down in plain view of commuters early Saturday morning(March 20, 2021) on the Gros Islet bus stand. She was the General Secretary of the Gros Islet Minibus Association and at the time of her killing was sanitizing the hands of passengers preparing to board.
Three men were recently slapped with murder and attempted murder charges in relation to a drive-by shooting incident that claimed the life of 19-year-old Royston Zenadin Jospeh. Two other men were injured during the hail of bullets.
In relation to a reported police shooting, Desir confirmed that an investigation into the matter has commenced and the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (D.P.P) will be sought and continuously liaised with for guidance.
