Two men, a 43-year-old Estonian and a 64-year-old Latvian, were on April 23, indicted on charges of drug trafficking in an organized gang and participation in a criminal association.
The men were arrested after their sailboat was intercepted by the Ventôse of the Armed Forces in the Antilles (FAA) on the high seas, east of Saint Lucia.
After a thorough search, 210 kilos of cocaine were discovered within the structure of the boat and seized by the FAA.
The two now face a sentence of 30 years of criminal imprisonment.
Since the beginning of the year, French authorities have seized more than 5 tonnes of narcotics following the coordination of services within the framework of the State’s action at sea in the West Indies.
