A 57 year old farmer of Cork Street in Canaries is the latest victim of a snake bite.
On Tuesday January 12, 2021, 10:57 am, the Soufriere Fire Station received a call from the Canaries Health Centre for a victim of a snake bite who needed to be transported to the OKEU Hospital for treatment.
Emergency officers found a 57 year old male outside his residence at Cork Street where he indicated that he had been bitten on the hand by a snake while working on his farm.
Officials assessed the patient who was alert and oriented however, swelling was observed around the bite area. The patient complained of pain and some numbness his hand and was transported to the OKEU Hospital where he was left in the care of medical staff in a stable condition.
