APL T20: Wins For Caribbean Stars and Goodlands In QF Round

Two more quarterfinal matches took place in the 2020 Adventist Premiere League (APL) T20 cricket tournament sponsored by Eagle Freights and Brokerage Services Limited played under lights at the Balata playing field.

On Wednesday 9th, Caribbean Stars were put in to bat by United Raiders CC and they reached 164 for 4 in 20 overs, propelled by a magnificent 100 off 56 balls by Mervin Wells. He received support from Tarrick Gabriel 25, and Junior Peter 17.

Bowling for URCC, Shon Francois, Wilburger Herman and Francis Alberson took one wicket each.

In reply, United Raiders managed just 71 in 16.1 overs. Wilburger Herman topscored with 28, while Ian Khan made 13.

Bowling for Caribbean Stars, Junior Peter took 3 for 15, Shelvin Montford, 2 for 2 and Ernell Sexius with 2 for 18.

On Thursday 10th, Mount Olives batted first and were routed in 19.4 overs for 76 by Goodlands. Jeremiah Prescott 25 and Kyle Adonis 21 were the main run-getters.

Bowling for Goodlands, Devon Eugene took 3 for 12, Zac Edmund picked up 3 for 14 and Rohan Charlery 2 for 14.

Goodlands achieved victory comfortably, reaching 78 for 2 in 15.2 overs. Leading with the bat were Alleyne Prospere, 27 and Zac Edmund, undefeated on 18.

Bowling for Mount Olives, Shadrack Theodore took 1 for 24.

Goodlands defeated the defending champions by 8 wickets and will do battle with La Bayee in the first Division 1 semifinal from 7. 00 p.m. on Tuesday 15th under lights at the BPF.

According to the organizers, the match will be streamed live by LNO Studios.

Meanwhile, the last Division 2 semifinal decider between North Eastern Vets and La Guerre which was called off earlier this week due to rain interruption will take place today (Saturday 12th) from 7. 00 p.m, under lights at the BPF.
