Only in its third year, the Saint Lucia Dive Festival has produced its first underwater wedding,“a major highlight for us this year”, according to Dive Fest officials.
Canadian Dive enthusiasts, Travel Agent Next Door agent Julie Gilchrist’s and her fiancé Sean, took the plunge in the deep blue Saint Lucian Sea to exchange their vows in the once-in-a-lifetime experience; a wedding ceremony underwater at Royalton Saint Lucia.
According to Julie in an article on Travel Pulse Canada, “When I attended the second annual Dive Fest FAM last year, the Saint Lucia Tourism Board and I started talking about the idea of holding the wedding underwater. Between the friendships we’ve made, the spectacular diving, and the romantic time that we have shared in Saint Lucia together, it made complete sense to celebrate our love for each other and get married there.”
Saint Lucia has long held its prominence as the world’s marquee romance destination and is home to some of the most beautiful reefs and best snorkeling and beach diving locations in the Caribbean.
