THE YMCA Indoor Volleyball Facility in Antigua will come alive from August 29th to September 2nd as the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA) is set to host the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under-20 Male Volleyball Tournament.
The national Under 20 Male Volleyball team has already left the island to participate in the tournament.
Six teams including host country Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Anguilla will battle it out for the top honours.
Reports coming from the Saint Lucia Volleyball Federation (SLVF) indicate that this year’s tournament will be highly competitive.
A 12-member squad has been announced by the SLVF to compete at the event. The team comprises Noah Gaspard (Le Club), Zid Daniel (758 Ravens), Christian Jn Baptiste (Phoenix 758), Kernel Remy (758 Ravens), Benerrero Wellington (Le Club), Fabio Lamontagne (758 Ravens), Joshua Florent (Le Club), Ryu Eugene (758 Ravens) and Rio Victor (Dig Set Point).
Terry Verdant who is presently in Antigua for the start of the ECVA Under 20 Female Championship will take charge of the team as Head Coach. Jean Morille will serve as Manager.
Meanwhile, Saint Lucia’s female volleyball players emerged champions of the ECVA Under 20 Female championship with a straight set victory over host country Antigua and Barbuda. They won 25 – 22, 25 – 19 and 25 – 17.
Saint Lucia earlier booked their way into the finals by defeating Saba also in straight sets 25 – 10, 25 – 19 and 25 – 9.
