THE Management of Saint Lu Metals Ltd and the National Workers Union signed their first industrial agreement this week. The brief ceremony was held at the Department of Labour. Deputy Labour Commissioner Ms. Cornelia Jn. Baptiste officiated.
The Industrial accord makes provisions for an eight percent general wage increase broken down with five percent in year one, 1.5 percent in year two and 1.5 percent in year three. All workers currently below $1,000 per month would be brought up to $1,000 monthly along with transportation, meal and dinner allowances, paternity leave, annual bonus and overtime benefits.
The Industrial contract will run for a period of three years with the company giving the full undertaking to have all provisions within the agreement implemented.
Saint Lu Metals Ltd operates in the Vieux Fort Industrial zone and employs over 30 workers.
