Massy United Insurance Ltd., officially entered the general insurance market in Jamaica with the formal launch of its branch there recently. The operations in Jamaica will be led by Ms. Winsome Gibbs, a chartered insurer with more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry.
With operations in Jamaica, the company is now represented in 19 countries via its branch and agency network. This latest venture provides more accessibility for Massy United Insurance and its current partners who conduct business in Jamaica. The company holds a rating of A- (Excellent) which was reaffirmed for 13 consecutive years by A.M. Best, the leading rating agency for insurance companies worldwide.
Massy United Insurance prides itself on having diverse knowledge and experience in claims handling and management which they have garnered over the years from their regional footprint. The company has successfully responded to several disasters in the region for more than 40 years. The most recent demonstration of this was the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and Maria, where more than 1200 customers in nine of its markets were paid US$275M.
Randy Graham, CEO of Massy United Insurance, is upbeat about the prospects for the new insurance branch. “Our decision to introduce insurance to Jamaica, has come at a time when natural disasters are becoming more unpredictable and insurance is so necessary and critical,” Graham said.

The Honorable Dr. Nigel Clarke, Minister of Finance and the Public Service for Jamaica, welcomed the company and the increased competition it would bring to the market. Dr. Clarke, along with Ms. Gibbs, Mr. Graham and other Massy executives participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony to formally open the new office.
