THE Office of the Mayor publicly acknowledged the outstanding business achievements and contribution of vendors at a special ceremony held earlier this month.
The ceremony saw vendors receiving trophies, certificates and fruit baskets in categories such as Longest Serving Vendor, Best in Customer Service and Best Display of Goods.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mayor of Castries Peterson D. Francis stated while this is not the first time vendors have been awarded, the initiative allows for the perfect opportunity to showcase vendors’ successes in order for them to thrive and excel at their trade.
“We are doing everything we can so that you can fly even higher,” Mayor Francis said. “We launched our vendors’ registration programme where you all will continue to benefit. We, in collaboration with the OECS regional development project, provided workshops to assist you to further your business. We continue to provide a safe and clean environment and will upgrade our sidewalks through the OECS regional development project.
He added, “The market redevelopment project is to your benefit. The first phase of that project will commence within days. All mentioned are testament to our commitment… and therefore, I will work, sacrifice, endure and fight cheerfully to assist in your progress.”
Velda Joseph, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, Local Government and Empowerment also made remarks on behalf of Minister Hon. Lenard Montoute.
