SAINT LUCIAN Sculptor Jallim Eudovic has in recent weeks been rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of Miami. The artist had his work featured at the recently held AFRO FUTURE art show by CADA & the Miami Design District and is curated by notable African Diaspora Arts expert Mr. Ludlow Bailey. The event was held in the Miami Design District, a high end part of Miami’s retail area which is continuously expanding and has become one of the most important neighbourhoods for high end art in Miami.
If that wasn’t enough, the sculptor had the opportunity to meet with American entrepreneur Craig Robins, the creator of the Design District and also the man behind the high end gallery which hosted the exhibition this year. Notably, billionaire Robins is also a real estate developer, art collector, and philanthropist.
“The show focussed on black artists that the art world considers to be up and coming… people who have great potential for the future,” Eudovic told The VOICE. “Luckily, I was one of those.”
The exhibition opened on Friday, February 15 and remains open to the public for the next two weeks. Speaking on the event’s reach Eudovic noted, “Black artists are taking the world by storm… the demand for black art has increased tremendously in the last five years. Some are even having their artwork purchased for millions in some instances. There are some record breaking prices this year. Black art is definitely on the rise.”
Furthermore Art Basel Miami Beach is the largest commercial art fair in the world, held in December of each year and the 2018 Art Basel Miami Beach saw a robust demand for black art. Therefore the AFRO FUTURE show is one of the most important black art shows in Miami for 2019.
Eudovic has returned to Saint Lucian shores where he will get busy with a host of other projects while contemplating what may soon be a reality – a one of a kind Jallim Eudovic sculpture smack center of Miami Design District!
