Gordon Williams, known in the Music Industry circle as “The Commissioner” is currently visiting Saint Lucia on a mission to “develop relationships with entertainment professionals”.
During his week-long visit, Gordon intends to engage major stakeholders in possible future collaborations to assist artistes in the music industry to better understand and access international markets.
Williams, who is of Saint Lucian parentage is a Grammy Award-winning music engineer and producer, who has worked with international superstars including Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Santana and The Marleys.
The Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) is collaborating with the Commissioner by providing assistance with venues, organising meetings with Ministry officials and other stakeholders to realise the goal of helping artistes hone their craft in music development.
On Wednesday, 21st November, the Commissioner, alongside musician and vocal coach DajlaLalia and Saint Lucian drummer, Marvalon “Stixx” Mitchell held a symposium at the CDF’s Conference Room during which time they engaged song writers, producers and other music creatives in a discussion on various aspects of the Music Industry.
The dialogue included but was not limited to Music Publishing, Contracts, Dedication to Honing the Craft and Success in a rapidly changing industry.
Participants included, Arthur Allain, TC Brown, Shayne Ross, Keen “Mecca” Cotter, Lisa Weekes and Rob “Zi” Taylor, some describing the evening’s session as “refreshing”, “really good” and “very informative”.
The participants all seemed grateful for the experience and eagerly anticipate the next step towards establishing themselves as global music ambassadors.
