Another initiative ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Group Stage in Saint Lucia got under way Tuesday 6th November, with the start of the Under -17 Inter District Ladies Schools cricket tournament at the Mindoo Phillip Park and the Phillip Marcellin Grounds.
At the Mindoo Philip Park, District 2 defeated District 1 by 6 wickets in a match reduced to 15 overs per side due to early morning showers.
Scores: District 2: Batting first scored 91, JoyannPreville top scoring with 25. Bowling for District 1 – Skye Smith bagged 4 for 19, Natalia Phillip picked up 4 for 7.
In reply, District 1: 94 for 4. Bowling for District 2: Allison Felix took 2 for 5.
At the Phillip Marcellin Ground (Vieux Fort). District 5 defeated District 6 by 9 wickets.
Batting first, District 6: 57 for the loss of 5 wickets. In reply, Dist 5, 58 for 1.
Dist 8 defeated District 7 by 11 runs. Batting first District 8: 120. In reply, District 7: 109.
On Wednesday 7th, one match was played; District 3 defeated District 4 by 46 runs.
Batting first District 3: 118 for the loss of 5 wickets, national cricketer and Windward Island reserve player, Zaida James 25, MelikaDestang 20 were the main contributors with the bat.
Bowling for District 4, Michaela Leslie picked up 4 for 15.
In reply, District 4: 72 all out, AmiaPolius 15.
Bowling for District 3, Zaida James had a good all round performance; picking up 2 for 7 and Melanie Antoine 2 for 25.
