The Boys Training Centre created history having for their first time been crowned champions of the under -19 Schools Football Tournament organized by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.
On Wednesday 13th, the grand finals played at the SAB playing field BTC defeated Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School, comprehensively 4-1.
In the semifinals BTC defeated Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School 2-0, and Soufriere Comprehensive defeated Babonneau Secondary 4-3 on penalties after the game ended 2-2.
From the onset it was apparent that the final would have been a keenly contested one with Soufriere Comprehensive gaining the early advantage with a goal from Steven Octave in the 28th minute. As the pendulum swung back and forth BTC was rewarded with the equalizer by Janie Lesmond in the 36th minute to draw level at the halftime whistle.
On the resumption, BTC stamped their dominance and which resulted in Lesmond scoring his second goal of the match in the 46th minute to give them a 2-1 lead. Seven minutes later Dillon Lucien made it 3-1 and Lesmond crowned it all completing his hat trick in the 79th minute to give his team a well-deserved 4 – 1 victory and the championship trophy.
