FOLLOWING repeated incidents of poisoning of pet dogs by persons unknown, the St. Lu-cia Animal Protection Society (SLAPS) has released a poster warning the public about the consequences of Cruelty to Animals.
According to SLAPS Coordinator Brenda Palmer, “The Vieux Fort police have vetted this and at their suggestion, we are asking the public to take note.”
Cruelty to animals is an offense on stlucia. Yet sadly, the poisoning of dogs continues, causing a great deal of distress to those who do love and care for their dogs and a great deal of suffering for these animals.
Is it not time the people responsible for this cruelty were prosecuted?
In the Savannes Bay area, since we had several dogs poisoned, this was reported to the Vieux Fort police and SLAPS put up several notices warning the public of these offenses.
One lady lost two of her dogs on that occasion and sadly she has lost another this time.
In total, this dear lady who loves and cares for her dogs has lost
Six dogs or puppies to the poisoners
Two families in a nearby area are afraid to have puppies again, because the much-loved ones they had were poisoned.
These are God’s creatures and we should love and care for them.
SLAPS has been operating in St Lucia for 20 years in that time many suffering animals have been cared for. We are grateful for the help and support of many of the citizens of this island.
