SOME 12 months ago, at age 11, Braden Chastanet became the chess champion in the junior category in St. Lucia — and since then, he has concentrated on improving his skills both at home and abroad.
Based on his enthusiasm, Braden has made a couple trips to the south of the island encouraging the youth to focus on chess as a means of exciting their minds.
The youth have really appreciated the gesture and we were fortunate enough to catch Braden in action in the south while his sister Rhyan looked on.
The PM must certainly be over the moon that his son, at age 12, found the time to address some of the social responsibilities of our nation. (Southerner)
