PRESS RELEASE – FOUR staff members of Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa are the beneficiaries this year of the resort’s annual Common Entrance Scholarship Awards Programme. During a short presentation ceremony held on Monday, 20th, August, 2018, the four awardees were presented with their cheques totaling EC $5000.00.
Present during the ceremony were the four staff members and their children along with the members of the hotel’s Sports & Social Committee and the General Manager of the Resort. The President of the Sports & Social Committee, Ms. Curtisha Purcell in her remarks congratulated recipients and expressed the pleasure of the Committee in being able to provide such assistance, which she hoped would motivate both parents and students to aim for excellence. In a very pointed remark, Ms. Purcell stated: “Education is the passport to the future, which belongs to those who prepare for it”.
In his remarks during the Cheque Handover Ceremony, Resort’s General Manager, Mr. Zachary Frangos stated: “Coconut Bay views the bursaries as an investment in the education and future of our nation’s youth as well as partnership support to staff members in their endeavor to facilitate the educational advancement of their children”. “We are pleased to bring such benefits to our staff as a demonstration of our interest in their wellbeing and livelihoods”.
This year’s recipients of the Annual Common Entrance Scholarship Awards included staff members from the Kitchen, Reservations, Entertainment and Housekeeping Departments. Two of the beneficiaries of this year’s awards were selected based on the criteria of performance merit having ranked as the highest scores from the applications submitted. The other two awardees were identified under the category of “special/needy” cases. The two highest scores were listed as: 87% and 82.67% respectively. The students who have benefited from this year’s awards will be attending the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary Schools.
The Annual Common Entrance Scholarship Award is one of the many privileges that staff member of Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa benefit from. The award which is issued annually provides financial support to parents in meeting the initial cost of Secondary School Education. (Coconut Bay PR)
