THERE were wins for Jon Odlum Secondary, St. Mary’s College, Micoud Secondary, and Piaye Secondary as matches continued on Thursday in the Department of Youth Development and Sports schools football competition at various venues.
In the Under-19 division, Jon Odlum Secondary School defeated Castries Comprehensive Secondary School 1-0; the goal scorer was Joemani Pierre in the 59th minute.
In the other match played in Group B, St. Mary’s College defeated Bocage Secondary 2-1.
In Group C, Micoud Secondary defeated Soufriere Comprehensive 3-1 at the Phillip Marcellin Ground in Vieux Fort. Soufriere got on the score sheets early, thanks to a goal from Glen St. John in the 4th minute.
Donavan Perpie equalized for Micoud in the 18th minute; Atley Clovis made it 2-1 just before the halftime whistle while Perpie sealed victory for his team with his second goal in the 69th minute.
In the other match played in Group C, Piaye Secondary came from behind to defeat AnseGer Secondary in a match also played at the Phillip Marcellin Ground.
AnseGer Secondary took the lead in the 6th minute, thanks to a goal from Luester Mitchel. Piaye levelled the match at 1-1 as Zane Amedee found the back of the net in the 22nd minute.
In the second half, Giovani Charles found the winner for Piaye in the 66th minute.
As a result, Piaye Secondary leaps to the top Group C with 4 points.
