FALLING on the heels of the 2017 Blackheart Knockout Football Tournament which ends on Saturday, October 7 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, the attention has now switched to the Saint Lucia Football Association President’s Cup scheduled to kick off next Wednesday with four matches around the island.
The competition was designed to provide national competition for the champion clubs in each league at the national level and in the process qualify to play in the national First Division.
In matches scheduled for the opening day at the Sab Sporting Facility, from 4:30 p.m. GMC play Betta Finkers, while it’s Allez versus Bays at the Anse la Raye playing field, El Nino come up against Up Rising at the Micoud playing field, and Uptown Rebels will fancy their chances against Belle Vue at the Philip Marcellin Grounds at 5:00 p.m.
Two matches are on the card for Thursday from 4:30 p.m., as B1 take on NYAH at the Sab Sporting Facility and Rovers come up against Praslin Bay at the Micoud playing field at 5:00 p.m.
The participating teams are: Group A (GMC, B1, NYAH, BettaFinkers), Group B (Bays, Allez, JMYC), Group C (El Nino, Rovers, Uprising, Praslin Bay), Group D (Uptown, Belle Vue and Black Panthers).
Meanwhile, the SLFA reminds teams that there has been s modification to the Law 3 by FIFA and participating teams are reminded that this law shall be implemented during the President’s Cup and all other competitions for 2017.
Modification to the Laws of the Game 2017/2018 – Substitutions: “The number of substitutes each team is permitted to use is up to a maximum of five (5), except in youth football, where the maximum will be determined by the national association.”
