INVESTIGATIONS are still ongoing in the June 29 incident at the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) where two inmates attacked another with a cell-made weapon.
The VOICE has been reliably informed that two investigations are being conducted regarding that incident, one internal and the other external.
The inmate who was attacked is in another location of the facility, placed there for his safety. He was not hurt during the attack. However, one of the two attackers was shot in the shoulder by a member of the Special Operations Response Team which responded to the attack.
Prison officials at the time said the prisoner who was shot and his accomplice attacked members of the response team, which led to one of them being shot. The wounded prisoner is still in the medical unit of the prison.
The investigations are being carried out by the prison’s own investigative unit and by the Major Crimes Unit of the police force.
This was the first incident of such a nature at the prison where inmates attacked officers forcing the officers to use firepower as a way out of the situation.
