A ten-woman team left Saint Lucia for Guadeloupe to participate in the third edition of the Monique Ribeaut Women sevens tournament hosted by Good Luck Rugby Club. The one-day tournament takes place today and will witness eight teams vying for the championship.
This is the first international tournament in which the Saint Lucian female players will be participating since their outing at the Rugby North America’s Sevens in 2014.
According to Saint Lucia Rugby Football Union Public Relations Officer, Cameron Brown, this and other domestic tournaments are being used to prepare players for participation in the 2017 Rugby Americas North Sevens Tournament to be held in Mexico City from November 24-25.
The Saint Lucia squad reads: Lionna Mindy Alexander, Ashley Nelson, DemiahKisla–Charlery, Megan Phillips, Marline Cherry, Kameka Kasey-President, Valerie Gabriel, Signa President, Emma Mills George and Shena St. Mark.
The management team comprises Coach Flavien Oscar Gabriel, Physiotherapist ZhenyaAllain, and Manager Mina Espeleta.
