St. Lucia In First CrossFit Contest

FOR the first time in Saint Lucian CrossFit history, a team of three athletes and their coach participated in the first ever CrossFit competition in Trinidad.

Held in Diego Martin last Saturday, the CrossFit 12-12-12 Throwdown 2016 tested the strength and endurance of the three athletes from CrossFit 758, the first official CrossFit affiliate in Saint Lucia.

Owner of CrossFit 758, Certified CrossFit Coach and Head Judge at the Competition in Trinidad, Brian Charles, stated: “We are extremely proud of our athletes who showed their potential in most of the competition. Alexi Charles represented us in the Teen category and was victorious, grabbing the number one spot, Anwar Brice placed 4th in the Men’s Scaled Division and Kurt Edward placed 14th in Men’s RX (Elite) Division out of 40 competitors. I must also commend the members of CrossFit 758 who came with us to the competition and who rallied around our St. Lucian athletes providing tremendous support. Though our first regional competition, our athletes stamped their name and left a lasting impression on the judges and the 90 plus athletes at the competition.”

Kurt Edward, one of the athletes indicated “This competition gave me the opportunity to assess my skill level against other athletes from the region and the USA. What was exciting for me was we got a chance to learn secrets to success along with preparation and tips to compete from Chyna Cho and Freddy Camacho – CrossFit Games Competitors. Throughout the competition I was able to push myself to the limit mainly due to the support I got from my CrossFit 758 family.”
