‘COP’ TO SEEK D.P.P. ADVICE IN DUGAR DEATH

THIS week was a mixture of sadness and happiness for residents of Dugard, Micoud.

As they made preparations to receive their famous West Indies T20 captain, Darren Sammy, a well-known 20 year old female in the area was found lifeless on the ground, in the community.

Police Monday reported that Jennifer Edwin was discovered unconscious on the ground at about 9:35 p.m.

She was pronounced dead by a medical doctor at St. Jude Hospital where she was brought to for medical attention.

A post mortem conducted Tuesday on the body revealed that Edwin died as a result of sudden cardiac death (unexpected death caused by loss of heart function).

The case took on an ominous turn when residents reported that the deceased and a male friend had been engaged in an altercation over a cellphone prior to her death.

Police investigators have since been treating the matter as a suspicious death and not a homicide, and will seek guidance from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution on the way forward in this investigation.

Meanwhile the country recorded its ninth homicide for the year over the past weekend when two individuals known to each other found themselves in a dispute that ended with one taking the life of the other.
