Veterans: Four Matches This Weekend

FOUR matches are scheduled for this weekend as the Veterans Football Tournament continue with matches slated for the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort.

According to the organizers before the Veterans showpiece from 4.30 p.m. W Mangue of Vieux Fort South and Young Roots of Vieux Fort North will clash in the SLFA’s President’s Cup.

From 6:00 pm in all Castries derby, Nyah, will take on former champions VSADC in what is expected to be a thriller. Nyah went down in their opening encounter against Gros Islet Veterans 3 – 2, while VSADC nosed ahead of Valley Legends 1 – 0 also in their opening encounter.

Meanwhile, at 8:00 p.m. Laborie Veterans plays the defending champions Caricom Masters with one win already under their belt. The men from Laborie will have to dig deep within if they are to stay afloat in this year’s tournament. In their first encounter they drew with Vieux Fort South 1 – 1 and another draw or a defeat means that they will play in the bottom plate of the tournament.

Tomorrow from 5:00 p.m. All Blacks from Dennery meet Soufriere Veterans. All Blacks in their opening encounter defeated Micoud 5 -1, while Soufriere played to a 2 – 2 against Congorians. In that match up Soufriere will have to come up big before the final round of preliminary matches at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

In the final game tomorrow from 7.00 p.m. Prophets and Kings will come up against home team Vieux Fort South. In this encounter both teams will be seeking their first win of the tournament.
