Woman Attacked Critical But Stable

A 24 year old female is in critical but stable condition at Victoria Hospital after she was brutally attacked last Friday night near the Choc Cemetery, Vigie.

Now her family wants justice to be administered swiftly admitting that they know who attacked her because she was able to name him when asked.

“We went straight to the hospital on receiving a call that she was attacked,” a family member told The VOICE.

Police yesterday said that they responded to a report of a stabbing near the Cemetery in Vigie, Castries.

“Upon arrival, the officers discovered a female being attended to by Emergency Medical Technologists (EMT) of the Saint Lucia Fire Service. The female, later identified as 24 year old Mc Lana Bernard of Agard, Morne Du Don, Castries, sustained what appeared to be multiple stab wounds to the body,” a police press release noted.

“She is still not out of the woods yet; however, she started talking yesterday and she told us who did it. She kept repeating his name,” a family member said.

Bernard was found near the cemetery by a stranger who called the ambulance service and later called her family after she was able to give the stranger the number of a family member.

Family members told The VOICE yesterday that two men turned themselves in to police for questioning after reports of the attack started circulating on social media.

One of the men is Bernard’s current boyfriend while the other is her ex-boyfriend and the father of her two-year-old child.

Shortly before press time yesterday police admitted that one individual is presently in custody assisting with investigations.

  1. This plethora of violence against women and infants is an abomination that has continued too long. I maintain that it is rooted in the evil misogynistic doctrine of the Church that teaches the woman is evil and cursed by God, while advocating punishing infants with tree branches – “spare the rod and spoil the child”

A rigid power hierarchy that demands unquestioning obedience exist In the religion of white supremacy with the Infallible Pope , god or gods at the top, represented by powerful church leaders who have power over male believers, who in turn have power over females and children.
