THREE time former champions Dennery and 2010 champions Micoud will contest the finals of the Blackheart Production / St.Lucia Football Association Knockout Football Tournament on Saturday at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds Soufriere and Canaries will meet in the third place play off before the big final.

Micoud will be seeking their second hold of the Blackheart title, while Dennery will be looking for a record breaking fourth title. From all indications the final promises to be a very good one between the east coast neighbours.

Meanwhile, it was a carnival type atmosphere with horns blowing and drums beating and only standing room available for the double header semi final action played before a massive crowd at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort on Saturday evening.

In Game one, Micoud had a 2-1 win over Soufriere. Micoud’s goals came from Levi Altidore Francis in the 50th minute and Alton Nervais in the 53rd minute.Soufriere got a consolation goal from defender Barry Felix in the 85th minute.

Game two saw a very close contest between the defending champions Canaries and Dennery. Both teams played cautiously and maintained their shape not giving the other a chance to exploit any weaknesses. A few half chances were created by both teams which they failed to convert to the dismay of their supporters.

However, Dennery came out on top in the contest thanks to a moment of brilliance from the tournament’s leading goal scorer Ridel Stanislaus with a spectacular 40 yard half volleyed effort which curled past the Canaries custodian John St. Omer and into the nets.
