Commercial basketball league Semifinals This Saturday At Beausejour

THE last week in the KFC Commercial basketball league was white hot! Buzzer beaters, unbelievable comebacks, upsets, tremendous individual performances were all on the menu; and it appears that the action has just begun!

The semi-finals are set with the following teams: Sandals High Risers, Goddard Group, Teacher’s Union and IRD Hustlers. Who will be the 2015 KFC CBL champions? The final four begins this coming Saturday at the Beausejour Indoor Facility from 6:00 p.m.

In quarter final action on the weekend. Sandals High Risers, came up against Le Sport. As was expected, the game was high energy, and ultra-competitive as both teams treated each possession as if it was their last. However Sandals’ balanced attack and tight zone defence neutralized Le Sport’s strong interior play. And so the high risers were the first to book their semi final spot with a victory over Le Sport 63-57.

The KFC player of the game was Simeon Medard for Sandals with a strong all round game; 12 points, 14 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists. For Le Sport LanseProspere poured in 25 points and 4 steals in the loss.

Game 2 picked up right where game one left off: with tremendous on-court energy and excitement matched by the supporters of both teams. It was game on! In this quarter final match-up: the high-powered Inland Revenue Department Hustlers were matched up against the formidable Media Ballers.

From the opening tip neither team wanted to give up any ground, but in the third quarter the media mounted a furious offensive surge and going into the fourth quarter it all seemed to be over for the IRD Hustlers being down 9 points with 5 minutes and 14 seconds left. However, the Hustlers rallied with the heroics of National league standout Ron Dumurville who scored the game tying and game winning baskets; erasing the 9 point lead and sealing the game 63-60.

The KFC player of the Game was Dumurville who recorded 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. His running mate Keegan Preville had a monster game with 23 points, 21 rebounds, steals and 5 assists. For the Media Ballers Arthur Tisson recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

On Saturday night the action continued with Goddard Group in action once again, coming up against the perineal CBL powerhouse- Combined Forces. This time there were no last minute heroics needed, as the Goddard group took an early lead which they did not relinquish despite a strong fourth quarter attack from the lawmen. Goddards won 62-55.

The KFC player of the game was Andre Louison with 26 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. For the Combined forces Shane Vitalis poured in 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

In the second game of the night for the last semifinal spot, the Teachers Union came up against the Renwick Cosmos. Immediately, the Teachers jumped off to a quick 10 – 0 lead and never looked back. The Cosmos could not get in sync offensively and the teacher’s aggressive defensive style only compounded the situation. In the end, the teachers defeated the Cosmos 50 – 43 behind the red hot play of KFC player of the game Glen Antoine who recorded 20 points and pulled down 22 rebounds. In the loss the Cosmos Larry Shepherd pulled down 15 points and 6 rebounds.
