UNDER what can best be described as scorching heat, the St. Lucia Athletics Association on Saturday joined the rest of the athletics fraternity in the observance of World Athletics Day at the Mindoo Phillip Park.

Well over 130 athletes from nine teams namely – Abilene, Blazers, Choiseul Athletics, Ciceron Secondary, Morne Stars, Night Riders, Road Busters, St.Joseph’s Convent Blue Eagles and Speed Printing Survivors along with three individuals competed in a series of events.

With 11 days to go before the annual 14 and under 1st National Bank Games final at the same venue, a number of these athletes will be back in action to showcase their talent for their respective schools and clubs.
