STAFF of The Royal by rex resorts have been awarded for outstanding performance in their respective jobs and departments for the period December 2014 to February 2015.

The hotel held its first Employee of the Month event for 2015 with one significant change in the format – a luncheon instead of a cocktail. General Manager Richard Michelin said the change is intended to give some more prestige to the event and make employees feel more cherished and valued in the overall scheme of things.

The change is also intended to improve attendance by nominees. If the turnout was an indicator, the change of format certainly achieved that objective. Whereas in the past, only winners got prizes, now every nominee gets a token of appreciation.

Personnel Manager Valerie St. Remy said the format of the awards will soon be revamped to Employee of the Quarter – to simplify the process, and make it more equitable. Michelin thanked the staff and his management team for helping The Royal win two recent awards from Trip Advisor and Booking.com. He challenged the nominees and awardees to keep exceeding the expectations of guests and urged that they be role models to other staff, especially new employees.

Employee of the Month of December 2014 was Spencer St. Omer of the Royal Spa. The winner for January 2015 was Sansha St. Rose while the winner for February was Quincy King of the Maintenance Department. Sansha, who works in Housekeeping and has a bubbly personality, has been in the hospitality industry over the last 10 years, with just under two years at The Royal. She works as a Suite Attendant.

Quincy King is a soft-spoken yet diligent young man who takes his job very seriously. A newcomer to the hotel industry, Quincy joined The Royal in October of 2014 after being self-employed for about 2 years in the maintenance business. He admits: “I like to interact with people, I like to show what I can do, and working here at The Royal has given me the opportunity to do that.” Quincy credits his recognition to perseverance and hard work.
