World Acclaimed Chef At Pigeon Island
THE culinary prowess of yet another famed and celebrated Saint Lucia chef will be displayed to the world as mouth-watering culinary flavour is added to the 24th edition of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival.
Festival goers will be in for a treat when Soufriere-based Chef OrlandoSatchell, delivers a one-of-a-kind culinary experience as part of a growing arts segment of the festival.
The world renowned Chef Orlando who specializes in Caribbean cuisine, will take centre stage at the home of the festival – Pigeon Island, displaying his culinary skills on three consecutive days beginning May 8.
“Placing the spotlight on our legendary fine cuisine and by extension our superbly talented chefs are testament to us further diversifying the arts component of the festival”, said Deputy Director and Head of Marketing for the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, Tracey Warner-Arnold.
“We began flavouring the festival in 2014 with our culinary ambassador Nina Compton and we are proud to continue with yet another internationally recognized but locally grounded chef in OrlandoSatchell,” stated Warner-Arnold.
Festival patrons will be able to sample some of the delectable culinary creations as part of an open air cooking demonstration carded for the afternoon of Saturday May 9.
Patrons can however partake in the fine dining experience that includes a scrumptious three course menu by booking reservations. There is also a small, but carefully chosen wine list that pairs well with the cuisine and enhances the dining experience.
Chef OrlandoSatchell served as the Executive Chef at the internationally acclaimed Ladera Resort for 14 years. He went on to set up the first Caribbean restaurant in Singapore and in several top hotels in London. The prestigious James Beard Foundation in New York invited him to demonstrate his cooking style at an event that made him the first Caribbean chef to be invited. He has also demonstrated at Le Cordon Bleu in London.
His own restaurant, named Orlando’s and nestled in the southwestern town of Soufriere gained a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor after only one year and has held the number one restaurant spot in Soufriere ever since.
