B-ball, Two In A Row For BBC

A TOTAL of six games were played this past weekend at two different venues in the KFC National Basketball League with wins for Micoud, BBC, Morne Gladiators, Courts Jets, Combined Schools and Police.

In Division 1 action in Micoud on Saturday 11, BBC defeated newcomers St. Lucia Fire Service 58 – 50 claiming their second successive win. Game two in Micoud featured the home team MicoudHustlerz Canaries Moon River. Micoud won that game to square their season record at 1 – 1, Canaries tasted their second defeat.

At the Beausejour Indoor Facility, Morne Gladiators got a historical win which gave them their best start of a National tournament with their second successive win in as many games over Soufriere Sulphur Stars 60 – 54.

Second game of the doubleheader featured a rematch of last year’s finals between defending champions Courts Jets and beaten finalists VBCC Warlords. The defending champions continued to show their dominance in the National Basketball League with four players registering double figures in a lopsided rout of VBCC 72 – 53.

On Sunday, two Division 1 games were played at the Beausejour Indoor Facility Combined Schools defeated Maranatha Eagles 68 – 63 behind an outstanding performance from KFC player of the game JadsonMontoute with a huge night on the boards for his 13 points and 21 rebounds.

Game two of the evening went the distance and needed extra minutes to separate the two teams Police and Sandals High Risers. Police won that game in over time 73 – 71 after being tied at regulation 63 apiece.

Meanwhile, games continue today with Courts Jets versus Micoud Hustlers in Micoud and Lions against Fire Service in Gros Islet. Both games tipoff from 7.00 p.m.
