FOLLOWING last weekend’s excitement in the St.Lucia National Cricket Association Inter District Under – 19 tournament, a number of teams will be jostling for places as the final round of matches in the group stage bowls off at various venues today.
At the Mindoo Phillip Park, Central and Anse la Raye both recent losers will want to shift gears and put last weekend’s misery behind them when they clash in a must win situation for both.
Gros Islet will be up against Babonneau in what is expected to be a thriller. Babonneau is coming into this encounter with one win and one loss, but most importantly they will have in their line up the experienced St. Lucia and Windward Islands Under -15 player Johnnel Eugene.
With a well balanced bowling attack spearheaded by another St. Lucia and Windward Islands Under -15 player left arm spinner Simeon Gerson, Eugene will have to prove the point that he is the 2014 junior cricketer of the year. Gerson will have alongside him Christopher Albert, Selwyn Boyce, Lee Solomon and Millan David.
Albert, Boyce, Solomon and David picked up 12 wickets among them for 60 runs, while Gerson had figures of 5 for 23 and 2 for 12 last weekend.
In other matches on today, South Castries meets Mon Repos in Mon Repos, Laborie stays home for their encounter against Soufriere, while Vieux Fort North and Choiseul will travel to the Beauchamp Playing Field for their match-up.
