The St. Lucia Basketball Federation in collaboration with KFC will commence its 2015 season next Sunday with the first event on its calendar of planned activities.
Next Sunday in celebration of St.Lucia’s 36th Independence Anniversary, the SLBF will host the first ever International Basketball Federation, more commonly known as FIBA, endorsed 3×3 basketball tournament in the Caribbean.
This tournament will be held at the Vigie Multipurpose Sports Complex from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will be played under the new FIBA 3×3 tournament rules.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the SLBF Neil Joseph, the tournament is open to the general public and will feature three divisions: Ladies, Under – 17 boys and the Senior Men.
President of the St. Lucia Basketball Federation Leslie Collymore stated, “We are indeed honoured to be given this opportunity to partner with the international governing body FIBA to execute this globally-endorsed event. This endorsement by FIBA 3X3 marks a tremendous achievement for the development of the sport.”
