Lutheran Youth Study Christmas

TRINITY Lutheran Church’s youth groups are offering a Christmas Vacation Bible School from Monday until Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to midday at their church in Bisee. The programme is free of charge and open to children from the ages of three to 12.

The Christmas story of Jesus’ birth will be presented in drama, songs and crafts. Trinity has two active youth groups and both will be participating in the organization and carrying out of this year’s Christmas Vacation Bible School.

Along with these two local groups, a selected group of high school students from Luther Preparatory School in Watertown Wisconsin are travelling to St Lucia to experience St. Lucian culture and share the message of Christmas. Bonnie Kuerth, director of the programme has praised the exchange programme run in St. Lucia for the past 25 years as one of the high points of the students’ lives. She says: “You wouldn’t believe how excited the kids are! Thanks for giving them such a wonderful Christmas/ministry/mission experience!”

The Christmas Vacation Bible School has become a regular ministry to the children of the Castries area for the last 25 years. Pastor Tom Spiegelberg says: “The programme run by the youth of Trinity Lutheran is entirely voluntary and important. We have found that even in a Christian country, the commercialism of Christmas can be suffocating. Many of the children have not heard or understood the message of Christmas. God promised to save us from sin. And He kept that promise when He sent His Son to be our Saviour. This is what it is all about.”
