On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) carried out an extensive operation involving personnel from various units, including the Special Operations Team, Major Crimes Unit (MCU), Traffic Enforcement Team (TET), Special Services Unit North (SSU), Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Vulnerable Persons Team (VPT), and Bicycle Unit (BPU) in Castries. This operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects on charges related to Murder, Using a Firearm with Intent, and Assault with a Firearm.
The individuals arrested and charged are as follows:
MacGyver Garvin Jn. Louis (33 years old) from Fond Le Grande, Castries, was formally charged by the Major Crimes Unit for the Murder of Darrel Craig Deterville (32 years old), also known as “Darwo,” from Pavee, Castries. Darrel Deterville’s body was found in a vehicle parked along Nelson Mandela Drive, Vigie Castries, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. MacGyver Jn Louis remains in custody following a bail application before the court.
Chrisman Lance John (30 years old) from Bois Patat, Castries, was arrested and formally charged by the CID in Castries for the offense of Using a Firearm with Intent. This charge stems from a shooting incident that occurred on Friday, May 31, 2024, in Bois Patat, Castries. Chrisman John is currently awaiting a bail hearing.
Cijay Charles (22 years old) from Bexon, Castries, was formally arrested and charged by the CID in Castries for the offense of Unlawful Assault with a Firearm. This charge resulted from an investigation into an assault which took place on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Bexon, Castries. The First District Court granted Cijay Charles bail in the amount of twenty thousand dollars (XCD20,000.00) in cash, suitable surety, or land documents.
