STAFF of the St Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) last Friday visited the Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home in Laborie, delivering non-perishable items, entertainment and one-on-one personal interaction.
The visit followed an invitation from the home to launch its “Corporate Citizens Home Initiative Month”. LUCELEC is the first company to participate in the programme where locally based companies will be invited to “help highlight the importance of recognizing and keeping older persons involved, connected, loved and appreciated.”
In addition to the donated non-perishable items which included grocery staples – LUCELEC staff presented cleaning supplies and a basket of ground provisions to the Home.
The Comfort Bay residents were also treated to a combination of local cultural dances before staff invited them to join in the activity.
LUCELEC staff volunteered for the initiative, as a tangible expression of the Company’s “Power of Caring”.
Corporate Communications Manager, Roger Joseph commented that activities such as this allow LUCELEC to remain engaged with the community, and the genuine enthusiasm of the staff left the residents in very high spirits.
The Comfort Bay Senior Citizens home is operated by the Ministry of Health. It is home to 54 residents who are 65 years and older.
